Between 1899 and 1901, a guest house was built opposite the Kursaal building based on plans by the Munich architect Max Littmann. The enormous, three-story building, with a facade length of 19 axes, was built in the Art Nouveau tradition. The facade facing the castle park is structured by a raised, three-axis, projecting corner building. High, developed mansard hipped roofs, window frames, balconies and other decorative architectural sculptures are based on Baroque forms. In 1949, Konrad Adenauer met with the Ellwanger Circle in what was then the spa hotel and decided on the name “Federal Republic of Germany”.
In the last few decades, the Dorint Resort & Spa has been renovated several times and became a four-star superior hotel. The elegant “Vital Spa & Garden“ is directly adjacent to the hotel and features an exclusive health and wellness area with a spring water indoor and outdoor pool , as well as a fitness and sauna world on 2,800 square meters.
