The Sinn, discover the torrent

The Sinn is the largest tributary of the Franconian Saale and rises near Oberwildflecken in the Rhön-Grabfeld district. With a length of around 70 km, it also flows through the Staatsbad and not only enriches the local flora and fauna, but also enlivens the castle park as a moving and invigorating element.

The Sinnufer as a living space

In order to better experience the element of water in the castle park, there is a sunny plateau directly on the Sinn with loungers and access to the water. Our perennial garden is located on the opposite bank of the sunny plateau. In April, several thousand yellow and creamy white daffodils bloom on the banks of the Sinn. It is particularly beautiful when the daffodils are in full bloom and reflect the meaning in the water. With the reflection, Sinn ensures twice the luminosity. In summer it is the palm trees that create a special atmosphere on the sunny plateau. They provide shade while sunbathing, are reminiscent of tropical paradises and awaken holiday feelings.

A total of seven bridges lead over the Sinn river and allow you to experience the element of water in the castle park again and again.
In the course of the palace park, the sense is laced in a corset, as was usual for the Baroque period. Only on the stretch from the foyer to the road bridge is the Sinn channeled and offers a clear view over the canal to the weir. Hornbeam hedges line the edge of the channeled Sinn. Various shrub roses grow along the Sinnpromenade. In the winter months, it is the large shrubs of the viburnum (Viburnum x bodnantense) that attract attention with their fragrant and pink flowers.

Old and young stands of alder, ash and maple trees protect and support the meandering course of the Sinn in the area of the landscape park. After the Sinn has crossed the castle park, it flows further south. Before the Sinn reaches the town of Wernarz, it divides into its old and new riverbed. The water world of the beaver is located on the old course of the Sinn. A walkable plateau allows a view of the old meaning. At this point the meaning flows very slowly. Traces of beaver feeding can be seen from the plateau. From the plateau you can get an idea of what river landscapes can look like if you let nature and the beavers run wild. Boards show the course of meaning and provide information about the life of the beaver.
